The Mijas Town Hall will have a new street cleaning service and urban waste collection (RSU) for the totality of its municipal area, which has been awarded to the company FCC Equal for a value of 87.9 million euros and a period of 10 years, as announced on Tuesday by the mayor of the town, Josele González.
This has been highlighted by the councilor in an act in which he has been accompanied by the councilor of the branch, Laura Moreno, where he has assured that the provision of this service “It will allow to adapt the cleaning tasks in the locality according to the needs of a city like Mijas, in constant growth”.
Between the novelties included in this new contractare the improvement of machinery, the increase in waste collection areas or the renewal and expansion of the number of containersamong others.
“We are talking about a much needed contract to be able to cover the real needs of our city and that will allow us to raise the cleanliness of the town to another level of excellence, since we will have the most advanced machinery, as well as with a greater number of troops”, the councilor highlighted.
On the other hand, he has indicated that the service “will also be launched in completely new facilities such as the new logistics center recently built by the local entity for waste management and street cleaning which, with a strategic location and with two ships of 2,373 and 2,567 square meters It will allow us to provide a much more efficient service since the operators will not have to travel to Malaga, as is the case today”.
So, waiting for the end of the 15 days of exposure established by the Public Procurement Law after the award, the Consistory will proceed to sign the contract with the company resulting from the tender, FCC Equal, which will enable the implementation of this service for the next 10 years worth 87.9 million euros divided into annuities.
For his part, Moreno stressed that with this contract, the local government will make what will be the contract for the provision of the most ambitious and complete cleaning service developed to date in the locality, noting that “we are going to put best available resources so that our streets look better than ever, which is why we also ask for collaboration from citizens so that together we can achieve excellence.”
For all these reasons, the local government reports that in the coming weeks this new service, which will include improvements such as side loading machinery, increase in litter bins or flushing, among others; will be a reality that will place the town among the leading in street cleaning and waste collection.
