The City Council of Mijas has presented this Thursday the programming of the Las Lagunas Fair 2022which will take place from June 29 to July 3, where music will be one of the protagonists and this year as a novelty the Day Fair around Cortijo Don Elíasas announced by the mayor, Josele González.
The alderman highlighted the “effort” that the Consistory has made to “continue to maintain our traditions such as the threshing exhibitionthat little by little is being lost, but that here in Mijas is maintained thanks to the flamenco group ‘Unión del cante’which helps us in the organization of the event on Sunday, July 3”.
“From June 29 to July 3, we are going to have a tight schedule of events and activitieswhere music is once again one of the great protagonists with the stellar performances of Don Patricio, Cepeda and Camela”, pointed out González, who has advanced that this year “the Day Fair moves to the surroundings of Cortijo Don Elíasright next to the fairgrounds, putting the finishing touch to five days of festivities for all the neighbors”.
On the other hand, González recalled that “few towns or cities can boast of having large fairs in their municipality, and here we have three such as the one in The Lagoons, La Cala and Mijas Pueblo”, highlighting that “there are many excuses to come to the Las Lagunas Fair, with high-level musical performances, participatory events for everyone, and in short, it will be an exceptional party”.
Thus, the Las Lagunas Fair will start on Wednesday 29 June with the special Children’s Day, which will have the attractions of the fair at a special price of two euros. During this day, from 7 to 9 p.m., both the music and the characteristic sound of the attractions will be eliminated so that minors with special needs can enjoy the fair by eliminating acoustic barriers.
A preview for the starting gun of the Fair will be the traditional turning on artistic lightingwhich will take place at 10:00 p.m., to be held later in the municipal Booth the election of candidates for Queen, King, Ladies and companions of the Fair of Las Lagunas 2022.
For her part, the Councilor for Festivities and Senior Citizens, Tamara Vera, pointed out that Thursday June 30 is “a very important day, especially for me because it will be when we have that moment of meeting and coexistence with our elders in their traditional tribute dinner”, a dinner for which they have already begun to register and which will take place at the María Zambrano School, starting at 9:00 p.m.
It should be remembered that interested persons have until Friday, June 24, to stop by the Office for the Elderly of the Retiree Home of Las Lagunas and collect your invitation. In the meantime, at the municipal Booth, he will receive on his boards the municipal dance academiesto continue with the performance of Juanlu Montoya, starting at 10:30 p.m.
On Friday, July 1, children will once again be protagonists with the children’s party at Cortijo Don Elías, starting at 9:00 p.m. Besides the Kids Rock Family performance, the little ones will be able to participate in the election of the Children’s King and Queen. On the other side, the municipal Booth prepares its stage for the trap rhythms of Don Patricio, an artist who will perform from 11:30 p.m.
For the weekend, there will be the Opening of the Day Fair on Saturday, July 2, from 1:00 p.m., at Cortijo Don Elías, where attendees will be able to taste a great free paella. The group Repicando and El Callejón will be in charge of putting the musical note to an evening that will last until 8:00 p.m. That same day, the municipal booth will receive one of the most promising national artists on the current music scene, Cepeda, who will bring his Sempiterno tour to Las Lagunas starting at 11:30 p.m.
To close the last day of the Fair, the day will begin with the traditional exhibition and songs of the threshing, from 11:30 a.m., at Cortijo Don Elías. That same day, it will act in the fair space of Día Algazaga and The Barbers of the South with a tribute to El Barrio. At night, and to close five intense days of parties and music for the whole family, a group that has been making hits in Spanish for three decades, Camela. All the concerts and activities of the Las Lagunas Fair will have free admission until full capacity is reached.
