A total of 754 second grade students They will receive the diploma that accredits that they have completed the chess initiation course taught by the Estepona Municipal Chess School in the city’s schools, as reported by the City Council on Monday.
This training action aims bring the practice of chess closer to young people primary school who are studying at one of the 13 educational centers in the city.
As they have pointed out from the Consistory, learning to play chess brings with it important benefits for children, since it exercise and improve memoryconcentration, creativity and logic and even helps them to solve problems and advance in reading comprehension.
On the other hand, they have pointed out that the Municipal Chess School (EMA) has taught a total of 210 students in the Padre Manuel Cultural Center and in the Mayor’s Office of Cancelada.
The EMA will celebrate its End of Year Trophy 2022/23 This Thursday, June 22, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, with the participation of some 200 players.
The games will be played to the Swiss system 5 rounds, 10 minutes per player, with the participation of students from all categories of Estepona, Cancelada and Senior Chess Workshop: Smurfs, sub 8-10 and Minors, Seniors and Sub 10-12 and Senior categories.
Throughout the summer, the Municipal Chess School will celebrate rapid games of chess and giant games in the large format boards of the promenade. As in past years, the ‘Chess for everyone’ activity is free and open to anyone who wants it. It will take place from July 3 to August 25, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., under the supervision of the EMAE professor, Miguel Abril.
The next summer appointment with chess will take place on August 10, from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., with the celebration of the XXXVII Chess Night ‘City of Estepona’also on the seafront.
On the other hand, the Municipal Chess School will teach at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center beginner and advanced classes Chess from July 11 to August 24, for children between the ages of 6 and 16, Monday through Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Registrations can be made by email at cursoscultura@estepona.es from June 26, and in person at the Town Hall, from July 3 to 18.
