More than 92,000 people they enjoyed the cultural programming of Mijas during the past year, positioning the Teatro Las Lagunas as the epicenter of culture with more than 28,000 spectators, as announced this Wednesday by the councilor for the sector, Verónica Ensberg.
The mayor has made “a very positive balance of 2022, not only because we have consolidated cultural projects that we already had running in other editions, but also because we have innovated in our programming with new attractive initiatives for our neighbors”.
With all of them, he has detailed that it has been achieved that “more than 92,000 people enjoyed cultural programming of the Mijas Town Hall in 2022”, standing out among the consolidated projects in the Culture area the IX Conference on History and Ethnography in which about 200 people participated; those already recognized nationally Focus and Paint in Mijas, which in 2022 reached its XIII and XXI edition respectively, bringing together almost 180 painters and photographers in the streets of the town; the VIII AFAM Literary Contest in which 62 people participated; or the traditional Villa de Mijas Nativity Scene Show, which celebrated its XXIII edition with a dozen participants.
During 2022, the Las Lagunas Theater has continued to consolidate itself as the epicenter of Mijas culture with the approval of more than 28,000 spectators in their concerts, dance shows, dance, theater or cinema. It was precisely within this space that the second edition of the Mountain Film Festival was held, with the assistance of 300 people who enjoyed, among others, the presentation by Juan Bolívar, survivor of the Moroccan Atlas disaster.
Also, it launched 31 exhibitions in the three exhibition halls of the town through which they have passed more than 56,000 viewers“always giving visibility and priority to local artists and becoming a showcase for what is created and the talent that we have in Mijas”, adds the mayor, who recalled that 23 free courses have also been carried out with a solidarity nature, participating about 460 people, who donated 1,500 kilos of food to the Mijas Town Hall Food Bank.
