A total of seven companies have submitted their offers to qualify for the drafting of the basic project and execution of the works that will expand the new boulevard built on avenida España from Estepona towards the center of the city, and which aims to promote pedestrian and residential use of the area, as reported by the City Council.

Specifically, the project will be developed in San Lorenzo avenue, on the axis between the Town Hall, the promenade and the urban area, contemplating exterior redevelopment, the creation of a two-story underground car park with capacity for 300 vehicles, with the system of the municipal parking network of 1 euros per cost day for the user; as well as commercial and leisure areas.

In this way, it will be achieved that in this space, of about 22,000 square meters, encourage pedestrian and residential use in the urbanization of the surface, maintaining the traffic routes for the communication between surrounding streets and the access to the existing parking areas.

The successful bidder will have to carry out the Basic and execution projects within a maximum period of six months. The clauses for the award are published in the profile of the contracting party of the Estepona City Council.

Likewise, the Consistory has informed that the start of the works will be carried out in January 2024 and that they conclude in December 2025.

The project was presented during the electoral campaign of the municipal elections on May 28, and included in the PP program for the next term, which will put “the golden brooch to the great transformation that the city has had” through the comprehensive remodeling of San Lorenzo Avenue, according to the mayor, José María García Urbano.

This will achieve its integration with the renewed Avenida de España and with the renovated urban center of Estepona, the ‘Jardín de la Costa del Sol’, generating another large urban boulevard that merges with the recent opening to the sea that has been carried out. out, achieving one of the best promenades in Spain.
