Juan Luis Villalón, RSU delegate of the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, and Iván González Castro, as representative of Ecoglass, today presented a new edition of the ‘Recycle glass for them’ campaign, which, as Villalón explained, “is an initiative that aims to mobilize citizens to recycle glass containers to take care of the environment and thus contribute to a cause of solidarity: the prevention of breast cancer ”.
Thus, from today, and for the next few weeks, ten pink igloos will be located in ten locations in the Commonwealth. Thus, in addition to Marbella, where the campaign was presented this morning at the Mancomunidad headquarters, Ecovidrio will install these special containers in Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Mijas, Casares, Ojén, Estepona, Manilva, Istán and Benahavís. Ecovidrio will transform the glass containers deposited in the containers into a donation to the Sandra Ibarra Foundation for Solidarity Against Cancer.
On this occasion, the campaign has been extended by more than 170 cities throughout the national territory such as Madrid, Seville, Valladolid, Murcia, Malaga or Logroño. So, Ecovidrio has installed 500 pink containers throughout the country. In addition, the entity has counted on Sandra Ibarra, president of the Foundation that bears her name, as an ambassador for the project.
The Sandra Ibarra Foundation is a non-profit organization, with a history of thirteen years joining efforts against cancer, a cause of Global Health. Since its inception, the Foundation has promoted and financed research, awareness and prevention campaigns and projects against cancer, and has actively collaborated in the development of the humanization of Health.
In recent years, following the increase in survival rates and the lack of specific healthcare for cancer survivors, the Foundation has moved towards finding solutions in this area.
From the absence of specific care plans and the consideration of survival as one more phase of the oncological process, the School of Life. It is a school for patients and survivors specialized in dealing with healthcare needs during the transition period in which there is no tumor or treatment, but other sequelae appear.
The objective is to train and inform cancer patients and survivors, so that they become protagonists of their health and achieve the necessary physical and emotional well-being.
As a symbol of awareness and solidarity with breast cancer, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada has designed a special minigluo for the occasion, in which the Sandra Ibarra Foundation motto stands out: “Full of life”. The miniglu can be purchased through the website Miniglú.es, and the proceeds will go to the Sandra Ibarra Foundation to contribute to cancer prevention and research.
