La Fontanilla beach in Marbella will host this weekend the Andalusian Jet Ski Championshipa sporting event that will have more than 40 participants, as announced this Wednesday by the Councilor for Sports, Manuel Cardeña.
The mayor has highlighted that the local clubs Papuchi and Xtreme Jet Marbella will star in this competition on Friday the 18th and Saturday the 19th, the municipality being the one that will contribute the most pilots to the test.
Cardeña highlighted “the good disposition of the Andalusian Federation of Motonautics for the celebration of this activity in the city”, assuring that “it is a sport that is increasing in the autonomous community and in our town, where there are also several businesses specialized in its practice”.
For her part, the director of beaches, Victoria Martín-Lomena, has indicated that from the Puerto Deportivo Virgen del Carmen in Marbella “we always try to encourage water sports and, in addition, this case is one more example of the collaboration between the municipal delegations and the Andalusian federation to place the city in the place where it is in this regard”.
The representative of the regional body for this discipline and pilot, Francisco Javier Prieto, thanked the City Council for its support and explained that “on Friday we are going to prepare all the logistics regarding the installation of the tents and the inscriptionswhile on Saturday the two modalities that we have will be disputed, such as in the morning, starting at 11.00, the circuit and in the afternoon, the rallyjet”.
The types of motorcycles will be Jet Ski (those that are driven standing up) and Roundabout (sailing on a seat) that usually hold two and three seats. The categories will be Promotion (Novice riders) Gp0 and Gp1 (bikes prepared for high competition up to 300 CV).
