
The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, announced yesterday that the executive finalizes the Andalusian Digital Fish Market Network for the “direct sale of the boat to home”, which will be “a real boost for Andalusian fishing” by allowing the Retail sale from the fishing ports.
The online marketing of fresh products directly from the Andalusian markets is one of the main lines of action of the Andalusian Fishing and Aquaculture Management Technological Platform, for which a budget of almost 2.7 million euros is allocated.
It is about capturing added value in the food chain. For this, a prototype of digital portal for the retail sale of fresh products, customized for the Cadiz fish markets of Tarifa, Barbarte and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, for the Huelva fish market of Punta Umbría, that of Adra in the province of Almería and Granada Motril. Likewise, there is an express offer from the fish market Almeria to launch a pilot experience for activating purse-seine catches ‘online’ auctions, such as anchovies or sardines.
In parallel, the Board promotes a new label that distinguishes the fishing and aquaculture products of Andalusia, in order to underline the quality of Andalusian fish and combat illegal fishing and not declared. This new label has differentiating elements, such as the logo of the Junta de Andalucía and a Verification code that allows its authentication.
In total, the actions of digital innovation, traceability and sustainability of the fishing sector will involve an investment of 4.9 million euros by the Junta de Andalucía.
