The Regional Ministry of Development, Infrastructure and Planning, through the Public Ports Agency of Andalusia, has put out to tender the works to adapt the eastern esplanade in the port of Marbella for 1,641,796 euros. Interested companies may submit their offer until next November 4 through the SIREC platform.

This performance, 80 percent financed by Feder funds, aims to improve the endowment of the facilities of the port of Marbella through the conditioning of the esplanade adjacent to the port of La Bajadilla in its area of lift, which is within the public domain of the port.

According to the Board, these works in the port of Marbella will correct the current deficiencies of the port facilities, adapting them to the needs and new demands derived from port activities, to favor the accessibility and organization of complementary activities that favor the economic and social balance of the port.

The new design provides accesses, pavements, a new lighting network and service networks to the esplanade to provide a solution to land accesses and improve the relationship with the fishing dock and the functionality of the port facilities. The esplanade requires a reorganization of the interior space that allows the activity to be carried out in the surroundings of the shipowners’ quarters, which will require a relocation of the same, as well as the parking areas.

Within the actions of this project, the channeling of a discharge stream known as Arroyo Primero is contemplated, which runs through the public port domain and which at the moment it presents / displays its channel annexed to the breakwater of the port by its margin. I know For this reason, it will carry out an adaptation in its last 120 meters so as to put an end to the floods that are registered in adjacent streets and in the esplanade area when there are large avenues.

It will work in an area of 6,000 square meters in the urbanization of the esplanade, 1,160 square meters in the channeling of Arroyo Primero and 1,782 square meters in the adaptation and improvement of Isaac Peral street. On the east bank of the esplanade, they are projected 47 battery car parks for passenger cars, plus an additional one reserved for people with reduced mobility.

In addition, the section of Isaac Peral street to the north of the esplanade will be adapted and improved so that this road will become the main access to the esplanade. Since access will be restricted only to authorized port personnel, the current layout of the sack bottom that allows the turning maneuver at the eastern end and the entrance to the esplanade from said end will be enabled.

In addition, the sidewalk will be improved and the space of the road will be provided with gardening, urban furniture and lighting, in order to give it a landscaping aesthetic in accordance with the environment, tree pits will be installed in the new sidewalks arranged on both margins for new plantations, as well as bins evenly distributed along its route. For the same purpose, new lighting is projected using classic HID-type luminaires with nautical aesthetics and a replacement of the electrical network that supplies them.

In addition, another important action is being undertaken in the port of Marbella with an investment of 699,380 euros that aims to build 32 shipowners’ quarters in a sheltered dock area, previously occupied by the old fish market, a building that has been recently demolished. In addition, it will soon be completed with the construction of another piece that houses a second phase of shipowners’ quarters, between this building and the shipyard, in contact with the shore. Likewise, with the transfer of the current rooms, the possibilities of developing other activities in the port area they currently occupy will be improved and it will facilitate port-city integration.
