The Minister of Development, Infrastructures and Spatial Planning, Marifrán Carazo, stated this Wednesday that the steps necessary for the construction of the transport interchange of San Pedro Alcántara (Marbella), which will be located on a plot located at the intersection between the Ronda highway (A-397) and the A-7 highway, and for which the Board will allocate one million euros.
This has been highlighted by the regional representative in her intervention in the Development Commission, where he has pointed out that in days the writing will be awarded of the feasibility study and the construction project to define the design and dimensions of the exchanger.
The counselor has guaranteed a budget item of around one million euros for the construction of this exchanger that “It will allow to unify lines and stops.” Currently, San Pedro Alcántara users have to go to three different stops located on Norberto Goizueta Daz, Luis Braille and Juan Vargas avenues.
Since the Marbella City Council requested the construction of this bus interchange, several steps have been taken towards its commissioning. In this sense, the counselor recalled that last April a collaboration protocol was signed for the construction of this infrastructure. For his part, Marbella Town Council has started the file to obtain ownership of the plot to make available to the Ministry an area of about 3,000 square meters.
“This agreement is the result of good understanding and institutional loyalty which should be the general norm between the different administrations”, Said the counselor.
San Pedro Alcántara has 35,000 inhabitants of the 147,000 that the city of Marbella registers, and there are numerous concessions of transport lines that stop there on their different routes. Among them is the Autonomous concession VJA-092, which connects the Sampedreño population center with the main center of Marbella, the Hospital de la Costa del Sol and other towns in the province, including the capital, as well as several interprovincial lines. On any weekday, more than a hundred bus expeditions pass through this urban center, a number that increases in the summer period. Public transport by bus with ascent or descent in San Pedro Alcántara is used by about 100,000 users.
