82% hotel occupancy and 67 million euros. These are the main figures that the recently completed Hispanidad Bridge leaves us in the province. This is reflected in the data offered by the Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Costa del Sol (Aehcos), which already estimated before its beginning an average occupancy of 76%, with a 60% international presence, which has been maintained according to the forecasts.
For José Luque, president of the Association, “it is a good fact that the direct economic impact of the hotel activity reaches 67 million euros, with the importance that this implies for the economy and the generation of employment in the province of Malaga” .
Promotion by segments
José Luque assures that, although Malaga is on the path of tourist recovery, “we must be prudent” since the sector is in the run-up to the low season.
To face it with good results and for hotel occupancy in the province to maintain the trend, “it is necessary and urgent” -adds the president- the promotion by segments to achieve a seasonally adjusted effect. That is to say, hoteliers advocate to encourage congress tourism, as well as active tourism, nature, sports, nautical … «a tourism that, in short, places the value of the favorable climate and the services and infrastructures that both the Costa del Sun and the interior of the province have to develop in optimal conditions all these professional meetings and leisure activities.
