The Marbella City Council has increased this year by more than 33 percent the agreement with Cáritas to guarantee its support service and accommodation for pregnant women without resources. The Mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, has signed the agreement and thanked the entity for its “effort and solidarity.” “With this help we want to continue to recognize the work carried out by this body in Marbella, greatly increased during the pandemic, as has been proven,” said the councilor, who pointed out that from the City Council “we will always be supporting initiatives like this one, which we have been supporting since 2007 ”.
The first mayor stressed that the project offers pregnant women accommodation and “a series of resources that they do not have, either because they are a victim of abuse or for any other circumstance.” “The goal is for you to get through your pregnancy and also receive training and support for their socio-labor insertion ”, Muñoz has detailed, who has highlighted that Marbella, until the recent incorporation of this program in Antequera, was the only city that offered this service.
For his part, director of Cáritas Diocesana de Málaga, Francisco José Sánchez, has valued “the constant support of the City Council to our work, guaranteeing one more year the stability of this project, which is being developed in Marbella and which offers accommodation to very vulnerable women.” “We renew the annual agreement and the City Council funds, which will reach 28,000 euros, 7,000 more than last year, will allow us to cover most of the expenses, both for the physical space we occupy and the technical support of social workers and work in matter of socio-labor insertion that we carry out with these people ”, has indicated the person in charge of the organization, who has specified that since the launch of this initiative “More than 30 babies have come into the world.”
On the other hand, the Consistory has signed another agreement for the development of a new edition of the Cáritas Bazaar, which this year will be held from December 2 to 5 at the Adolfo Suárez Palace of Fairs and Congresses. In this regard, the mayor explained that the agreement contemplates “the transfer of the facilities for retake this important source of income for the group”.
