The Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol has shown its satisfaction this Wednesday for the declaration of emergency for the execution of works of the desalination plant in Marbella, taken yesterday by the Governing Council of the Junta de Andalucía, and which will have an investment of almost 3.3 million euros to solve efficiency problems in the plant.
The regional administration has declared this action of interest to the autonomous community of Andalusiawithin those that are carried out to alleviate the effects of the drought, they have recalled from the supra-municipal entity.
Thus, they have indicated that the Board is going to allocate a amount of almost 3.35 million eurosin an action that will put an end to the critical situation of this desalination plant due to functional and operational problems and which is essential for water quality.
The main objective of the action is to improve the quality of desalinated water by replacing four old racks of hollow fiber membranes with two new racks of spiral wound membranes, pressure tube supplies, adaptation of feed, rejection, product water and chemical cleaning pipes, valves, accessories, supports and other instruments, as well as the replacement of the stainless steel collectors so that they can continue to operate.
Additionally, it will install a new frame second pass that will allow greater efficiency and better use of water by achieving that only 1.8% of the flow produced in the first pass is rejected.
The supramunicipal entity celebrates the last assembly of the legislature
On the other hand, the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, located in Marbella, has celebrated today theto the last assembly of this legislaturewhich began its journey in July 2019.
José Antonio Mena, president of the institution, took the floor at the end of the session to thank “all the members of the assembly for their work, dedication and effort”. In addition, he has wished “good luck to those who attend next Sunday’s elections” and also to those who leave political activity.
This Commonwealth legislature has been distinguished by consensus, by having brought together in the government of the institution all the political parties represented in the assembly, thus configuring a stage of stability in the management of the supra-municipal entity.
