The City Council of Estepona (Málaga) has informed that the construction works of the promotion of 100 official protection homes (VPO) in the Juan Benítez area they are 80% complete, so they are entering their final stretch.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, has made a visit to the work and has highlighted “the fulfillment of the commitment to favor access to housing for people and groups with greater difficulties for it”. The land where this housing development stands was ceded by the Consistory to the Vimpyca Foundation Charitable Construction Entity (EBC) for the construction of this residential complex.
The works began in July 2020 and its Completion is expected in May this year. At this time they are fully completed as far as the structure and the exterior masonry are concerned, and the roofing work is being completed. On the other hand, work continues on the interior installation of electricity, telecommunications, plumbing and ventilation, among other tasks.
The land, which forms part of the Estepona City Council land patrimony, has a area of 5,000 square meters and a building area of 10,000 square meters. The plot is located in the Juan Benítez area, a sector that is in full development, “thanks to the action that the Consistory carried out with the construction of the northern ring road, which has been reinforced with the works to widen the Guillermo Cabrera and Juan Benítez streets, and with the expansion of Hermanos Machado street”, they recalled.
These dwellings are of mixed regime: 52 Special Regime homes and 48 General Regime homes. They have one, two and three bedrooms, and there are also adapted homes for people with reduced mobility. All have as attached elements, a parking space and a storage room. They will also have a swimming pool and indoor community areas with a children’s area.
On the other hand, the mayor has indicated that he is promoting the development of urban planning for the obtaining new land that are intended for this type of housing.
Among the social measures in this area launched by the Estepona City Council, the creation of a pioneer social fund in adapting homes to neighbors with limited economic resources, which favors the solution to the problems of health, vulnerability and habitability of those homes of people with economic difficulties.
Likewise, the Consistory, he stressed, has a game for social emergency aid to serve the most vulnerable groups.
