The Estepona City Council reports that the construction works for a new stretch of coastal corridor in the Arroyo Enmedio area have been awarded.
The deputy mayor of the Development, Infrastructure and Tourism (FIT) area, Ana Velasco, has indicated that the new path will run between the existing promenades in the Arroyo Vaquero and Costa Natura urbanizations.
The works will consist of the construction of a wooden bridge 32 meters long and 3 meters wide. Wooden walkways will be installed on each side of the new structure, with railings on both sides. The total area of action will be 221 square meters.
The action will be complemented with the installation of street furniture, drinking fountains, litter bins and bollards.
The works, which will have an execution period of two months, will be carried out by Urinci SL The project has an investment of 227,069 euros (VAT included).
Velasco explained that the new section will be fully financed with the Joint Investment Plans that the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol has launched this year to support its municipalities after the pandemic. In this way, it contributes to the revitalization of its social, economic and tourist environments.
The municipal official thanked the Association of Municipalities for their collaboration and indicated that the Estepona coastal corridor project is 90 percent completed after achieving the connection of almost 20 kilometers of coastline. In this regard, she recalled that this infrastructure has become one of the most used spaces by residents and tourists, since it promotes outdoor walks along the coast, as well as the practice of outdoor sports.
Velasco has announced that the Consistory continues to work on the processing of other paths so that the entire coastline is united through this corridor, which has established itself as one of the main public spaces in Estepona.
