The Costa del Sol Environmental Complex joins this year the campaign of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) “Pink is more than a color” by purchasing pink socks for the entire workforce in its charity shop.

In total, 260 pairs of socks have been purchased and distributed among all the workers, thus allocating this item to breast cancer research.

In previous years and on the occasion of the celebration of the Day against Breast Cancer, the Costa del Sol Environmental Complex organized talks for female workers on the early detection of this type of cancer and free mammograms were performed on female employees over 50 years of age.

The Urban Solid Waste delegate of the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, Juan Luis Villalón, explained that “this year we also wanted to involve men in the fight against this cancer which, although it affects women, the whole family suffers. When breast cancer is diagnosed, everything
the woman’s environment is affected. And we all need to be aware of the importance of detection and investigation.” Donations from the “Pink is more than a color” campaign are used to finance research projects so that all patients have access to effective and sustained treatment over time; to the psycho-oncological, social and health care of patients in all phases of the disease and to defray the expenses derived from the disease.
