San Pedro Alcántara recovers the Costa del Sol Historic Vehicle Route with the participation of fifty cars prior to 1960, after the stoppage imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic since its last celebration in 2019. In addition, on this occasion, the Costa del Sol Historic Vehicle Club and the Real Automobile Club Al Ándalus de Jaén have joined forces to organize the 9th Costa del Sol Route together with the 39th Olive Route from today until Sunday, September 26.
During these days they will also visit Ronda and the Sports Ports of Marbella and Sotogrande. The Deputy Mayor of San Pedro Alcántara, Javier García, highlighted the tourist nature of this event, which will bring together people from different parts of the Spanish geography, and that Tomorrow Friday will have an exhibition of the different models on Marqués del Duero avenue, starting at 8:00 p.m..
The mayor thanked the president of the Club of Historic Vehicles of the Costa del Sol, José Luis Arredondo, as well as Pepe Romero, promoter of the initiative, and the Tourism and Commerce team in San Pedro with its general director, Rubén Sanchez. “As a Mayor’s Office, we contribute our sponsorship and collaboration at the logistical and infrastructure level and, especially, our love and support to an event that we already consider to be in San Pedro,” he indicated.
The event is part of the agenda of events organized between the Department of Tourism and Commerce on the occasion of the International Tourism Day, in order to revitalize purchases in local businesses and thank the presence of neighbors and visitors. “For us, the important day will be tomorrow Friday, starting at 8:00 pm, where these vehicles will be exhibited from the boulevard to the Paseo de las Palmeras (Marqués del Duero),” García said. For his part, Arredondo has stated that “people from different parts of the Spanish geography are going to participate, as is the case of Pontevedra, Vitoria, Valencia or Madrid”.
Regarding the planned agenda, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. This afternoon the reception will take place at the Hotel Paloma Blanca in San Pedro Alcántara and tomorrow, from 09.00 hours, they will leave in the direction of Ronda. Already in the afternoon, starting at 8:00 p.m., the exhibition will take place and presentation on Marqués del Duero avenue in San Pedro Alcántara. There will be music, special lighting and the history of each vehicle will be discussed, according to Arredondo, who has pointed out that On Saturday at 09.30 hours the participants will leave for Puerto Banús and at 12.15 hours they are scheduled to depart for Marbella, where they will visit the Virgen del Carmen Sports Port and park their cars on the promenade. At 9:00 p.m., they will return to San Pedro Alcántara, where they will have a gala dinner at the Nuevo Reino Restaurant.
