Mijas Town Hall has activated the local police bicycle unit to ensure the safety of its coastline in summer, and a total of 4 agents in total make up this device that will be operational every day of the week on the beaches of Mijas, as reported by the mayor, Josele González, on Monday.

The councilor has highlighted that “two pairs of agents are going to take turns to ensure compliance with municipal ordinances, and at the same time providing extra security not only to the neighbors who come to enjoy our beaches, but also also to all those tourists who choose Mijas as a destination in this summer period”.

On the other hand, González stressed that this unit has given very good results in recent years “producing a deterrent effect against possible theftsstreet vending or illegal massages”.

The cycling unit of the Mijas Local Police will give service from the Torreón to the La Luna beach bar, Monday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

For his part, the Councilor for Beaches of the Mijas Town Hall, José Carlos Martín, has highlighted that the device arrives for “complement other services that we provide such as cleaning or rescue and first aid which, precisely this year, has 62 people ensuring the safety of our beaches”.

The mayor has highlighted that the cycling unit “represents a quality plus in the excellence of our beaches and in the service we provide to the citizenry”.

Agent Pablo Narváez has joined the cycling unit this year, of which he highlights “he is a nearest job, we can deal more effectively with the problems that occur on the beach.” His work is also appreciated by the merchants in the area, who “call us directly and tell us about their concerns.”
