The National Police have arrested the driver of an SUV in Estepona (Malaga) -which turned out to be stolen- after a patrol caught him driving at high speed on the A-7 motorway and ended up losing control of the vehicle, even making several laps bell. The suspect, a 27-year-old Spaniard, has been arrested for his alleged responsibility in crimes against road safety and document falsification – the car had bent license plates.
The events occurred on September 18, at 8:30 p.m., on the A-7 motorway as it passed through Estepona – in the direction of Cádiz-. A National Police patrol observed that the driver of an SUV was traveling at high speed in a section limited to 80 km / h.
After the patrol caught up with the suspect vehicle and the agents indicated to the driver, with acoustic and luminous indications, to take the next exit to identify him, the suspect increased his speed and began to lurch down the road, overtaking other vehicles on the left or on the right, indistinctly, thus putting the safety of traffic and users at risk.
Finally, the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle ended up losing control of it when he took exit 153 of the A-7 motorway, making several turns of the bell, probably due to excess speed – he reached 180 km / h, according to it is collected in the report.
The agents assisted the driver of the car, who got out of the car by his own means, being assisted on the spot by an ambulance.
Continuing with the investigations, the agents found that the SUV had bent license plates – they corresponded to another vehicle of another make and model. In addition, due to the state in which the vehicle was left and with the support of firefighters, the agents managed to see the area where the frame number had been stamped, confirming that its theft had been reported in Esplugas de Llobregat (Barcelona).
