The City Council, through the Sports Facilities Plan, will create a multisport track in the Sampedreño neighborhood of El Ingenio, next to the La Alcoholera Performing Arts Center. The Deputy Mayor, Javier García, and the Councilor for Sports Activities of San Pedro Alcántara, Javier Mérida, have presented the project today, which will have a six-week lead time and to which it will be added an urban beach volleyball field next to the previous one. García explained that it is an initiative “demanded by the residents of the area, which will allow soccer, basketball, or hockey practice, among other disciplines ”.
Likewise, it has specified that the runway will be located on a surface of 288 square meters and it will be an “important place of recreation and sports practice for the youngest”. “We are in a very emblematic and important population nucleus of San Pedro Alcántara, which needed facilities of this type,” the mayor has detailed.
For its part, Mérida has remarked that with this action “we are responding to the neighborhood community.” “They asked us to increase the tracks and we are doing it,” stressed the councilor, who also highlighted the request by the San Pedro Volleyball Club to create an urban track in the beach modality, “which we are also going to carry out ”.
Finally, he recalled that the Facilities Plan not only acts in new facilities, but also in the improvement of other as outstanding as the Elena Benítez Sports Palace, the Municipal Stadium or the existing ones in the El Arquillo park.
