The work corresponding to the plan to fine-tune the coastal corridor, which has become one of the main leisure and recreation spaces for citizens, is coming to an end.
The Deputy Mayor of the External Control and Services area, Blas Ruzafa, explained that this project, which is 80 percent executed, is mainly focused on expanding and improving the lighting network.
The municipal official explained that at the end of this action, a total of 220 led and vandal-proof beacons will be installed in the sections that have required lighting reinforcement. These new beacons will not produce light pollution because they project the light horizontally, and will avoid energy waste as they are low-consumption luminaires.
In addition to improving the lighting system in the wooden structures, the Consistory is also replacing a series of street lamps with LED-type luminaires.
This plan to fine-tune the coastal corridor also includes the reform of the wooden walkways that are in poor condition due to the use and installation of a hundred stainless steel bins.
This project for the conditioning of the different sections has a budget of 140,358 euros (VAT included). The Consistory is acting in different points of this path such as Villas Andaluzas, Hacienda Beach, Kempinski hotel, Laguna Village, El Velerín, or El Pirata among others.
Ruzafa has pointed out that, although work is focusing on improving lighting with the installation of new control panels and power lines, the City Council is also undertaking other actions such as the replacement of metal railings and handrails that require it, or the painting of the wooden walkways that are deteriorated.
The deputy mayor has indicated that these works will be added to others carried out by the Consistory so that the coastal corridor continues to structure the entire coast of Estepona. In this regard, he recalled that this infrastructure has already been executed almost 90 percent, which implies the existence of 19 kilometers of coastline linked by pedestrian paths.
In fact, it should be recalled that this year the section that runs from the IKOS hotel to the Park Beach urbanization was inaugurated, with the longest bridge in the entire Estepona coastal corridor.
In addition, last year, three new sections were opened, such as the one that connects the Laguna Village shopping center with Dominion Beach. A second section of 145 meters was also carried out, located in the Andalusian Riviera, which connects the H10 hotel with the bridge that was built over the Guadalobón river. Recently, the section of the path in front of the new IKOS Andalucía, in the Guadalmansa area, corresponding to the urbanization of this area, has been included.
Finally, others are being promoted in the western part of the municipality, specifically in Arroyo Enmedio, where a small bridge will be installed, and in the Arroyo Vaquero area, where a new bridge has been projected over the stream bed, and that It already has the authorization of the Junta de Andalucía.
