Extinguishing work continues throughout the extension of the fire in Sierra Bermeja, which has affected about 3,600 hectares for the moment and which has focused overnight on containing the forest fire on the road that goes up from Estepona to Peñas Blancas with technical fire and in keeping the area of ​​Jubrique and Genalguacil contained.

The INFOCA Plan has made the decision to raise the severity level to 2, that is, state media not assigned to said Plan may be incorporated, or they may involve emergency situations that lead to cases in which the national interest is at stake.

The presidents of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, had a telephone conversation last night this Thursday about the state of the fire in Sierra Bermeja, which affects several municipalities in the province of Malaga, and have agreed to the deployment of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) at the time that the technical services that direct the device consider it necessary, although the most immediate need is the aerial means, since they have 3-4 hours until May the wind pick up again and complicate the work of extinction again.

It is also confirmed that up to 1004 evicted, most of Estepona and Benahavís will not be able to return home at least until further notice.
