The fire declared in Sierra Bermeja has forced the cut off of traffic on the AP-7 between kilometers 157 to 171, in the direction of Cádiz.
The emergency operation reminds drivers to circulate with caution and follow the instructions of the authorities in the area at all times.
More than 400 people have been evicted during the night because of the fire declared in several municipalities of Sierra Bermeja, in the province of Malaga. Fifteen of them had to be rehoused and cared for in the Carmen pavilion in Estepona.
Level 1 of the Infoca Plan for a fire in Sierra Bermeja
The delegate of the Government of the Board in Malaga, Patricia Navarro, has activated at 3:34 hours, level 1 of the Emergency Plan for Forest Fires of the Autonomous Community (Infoca Plan), in the province of Malaga, due to a fire that affects several municipalities in Sierra Bermeja.
It should be remembered that level 1 is activated in those fires that can be controlled with the means of extinction provided in the Plan, due to their possible evolution, the need to implement measures for the protection of people and property of non-forest nature.
The 112 service answered at 9:37 p.m. the first of more than 140 calls that alerted of a fire that affects several municipalities in the area: Jubrique, Genalguacil and Estepona. Immediately, from the coordinating center room, the Civil Guard, the Malaga Provincial Firefighters Consortium, the Andalusian Emergency Group (GREA), the Local Police, the National Police Unit attached to the Community have been alerted, to Civil Protection of Estepona, and to the Provincial Operational Center (COP) of Infoca.
The forest fire extinguishing device of the Infoca Plan has mobilized 200 troops by land and ten fire trucks. Among them are professionals mobilized from other provinces (Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Jaén and Seville). At sunrise, when light conditions permit, eight aerial media will be incorporated.
In a preventive manner, residents have been evicted in the Forest Hill area and in the center of Las Abejeras, as well as a gas station on the AP-7 in Estepona. The Carmen pavilion in Estepona has been enabled to house those who need accommodation.
The Civil Guard has reported that the MA-8301 road from Estepona and the MA-8302 from Jubrique have been prevented. The emergency operation reminds drivers to circulate with caution and follow the instructions of the authorities in the area at all times.
For its part, the Estepona Municipal Emergency Plan (PEM) has been activated.
