The Estepona Municipal Music Band summer concert cycle closes next Sunday, day August 29, at 9:00 p.m., at the Mtro. Navarro Mollor, located in the Clock Square and has free access.

The concert will be dedicated to cinema and will pay tribute to the Italian composer and conductor Ennio Morricone, who passed away last year.

This is the twelfth season of the BME under the titular and artistic direction of the Master José Antonio López Camacho. As in every edition, each of the concerts ends with the interpretation of the Anthem of Estepona, with lyrics and music from the unforgettable Mtro. Manuel Navarro Mollor.

The compositions of the Italian conductor are included in more than twenty award-winning films, in addition to also performing symphonic and choral pieces. Among others, his work in spaghetti western films, by the hand of his friend Sergio leone, like ‘For a handful of dollars’ from 1964, ‘Per qualche dollaro in più’ from 1965, ‘The good, the ugly and the bad’ from 1966 or ‘Until their time has come’ from 1968. However, his work spread to a multitude of genres of composition, thus making him one of the most versatile composers in the history of cinema and also one of the most influential of the 20th century. His compositions for ‘Days of Heaven’ from 1978, ‘The mission’ from 1986 or ‘Cinema Paradiso’ from 1988 are classified as authentic masterpieces. In 2020 he was awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts, shared with the also composer John williams.
