The Mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano (PP)has apologized for the joke he made at an election campaign rally for his party, in which he said that the bandage on his hand had nothing to do with the gender violence nor because he had slapped someone.

García Urbano, who took the lectern at a party act in Malaga that was closed by the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, he joked with the bandage on his hand: “I haven’t even put my hand where I shouldn’t have, it was a simple domestic accident. It doesn’t have anything to do with gender-based violence and I haven’t slapped anyone, either, which I haven’t done in my life and I’m not going to do it, and least with political rivals.

The commotion and critics of other parties that have generated his comment have led him to apologize publicly through Twitter, where he has admitted that he was wrong.

“Gender violence deserves all respect and the deepest rejection by everyone. I’m sorry about what happened“, has added.
