The month of July has concluded with increases in all its tourism indicators compared to the same period of 2020, which has been valued very positively by the president of Costa del Sol Tourism, Francisco Salado, who has indicated that “these data are very satisfactory and demonstrate the great work that the sector is doing to get ahead after the devastating effects that this pandemic has generated in the sector ”.

Thus, it must be said that according to the data from the Tourism Situation Bulletin for July, the evolution of the hotel sector in July 2021 has been extraordinary compared to July 2020:

In this sense, and as reported by Francisco Salado, “there has been an increase of 117% in travelers arriving at hotels in the province, an increase of 157% in overnight stays produced by these travelers with 553,645 travelers in this period and 1,872,974 hotel overnight stays generated by these travelers.

According to the president of Costa del Sol Tourism, Francisco Salado, “the national market has been the main driver of this growth with 376,551 of these travelers and more than 1,183,421 of the overnight stays generated”.

The data for July also indicate an increase in the stay in half a day, an increase in the degree of occupancy by 27.3 points, and an increase in hiring in hotels by 71.5%

There has also been an extraordinary evolution of the tourist apartments sector in July 2021 with an increase of 95% in travelers arriving at tourist apartments in the province (122,965 travelers in tourist apartments) and an increase of 106% in overnight stays produced by these travelers (548,920).

In this case, the increase in overnight stays by domestic travelers has been 78% and that of international travelers by international travelers by 162%

In other words, 122,965 tourists have stayed in the tourist apartments, which is almost 60,000 more tourists than in the same period of the previous year. Of these, more than 75,000 have been Spanish and more than 47,000 foreigners.

Spanish tourists have generated 314,957 overnight stays while foreigners have generated 233,963.

But the evolution of the rural tourism sector in July 2021 has also been very positive with an increase of 31.6% of travelers arriving at rural tourism accommodation, of 25.9% of the overnight stays produced by these travelers , with an increase in overnight stays by domestic travelers by 2.4% and by international travelers by 119%.

And the figures for the evolution of non-hotel accommodation in July 2021 have also been spectacular, with increases of 82.7% of travelers arriving at non-hotel accommodation, of 86.5% of the overnight stays produced by these travelers

In this case, with an increase in overnight stays by domestic travelers by 68.7%, and in overnight stays by international travelers by 127%.

These data have also been reflected in the extraordinary evolution of arrivals at Malaga airport, with an increase in passenger arrivals by 83.5%, with an increase of 149.2% in domestic travelers and an increase of foreign passenger arrivals by 70%.

In July, a total of 600,587 passengers arrived at Malaga Airport, representing 273,222 more passengers than in the same period of the previous year, of these 138,797 were Spanish and 461,790 were foreigners.

Salado has been very hopeful with these data and has indicated that “we have incomparable tourist resources, an unbeatable offer and with them and our magnificent professionals we will continue working for this sector that generates so much wealth and employment for the province.”
