The Estepona City Council informs that the construction works of the new Consistory building continue their development and have already reached more than 90 percent of their execution.
According to the deputy mayor of the Mayor’s Office, Juan Manuel Ros, the assembly of the exterior latticework that covers most of the glass facade is currently being completed, and that will serve as protection against solar radiation, improving the behavior bioclimatic of the building and saving global energy consumption.
Likewise, in the next few days, the flooring work on the outer surface of the square that surrounds the building and the upper area of the roof, which will house the renewable energy production system for the building, will also be completed.
The civil works have been carried out practically in their entirety, pending only small details and final adjustments, having closed the chapter on surface coatings and general installations that will allow the official accreditation of a sustainable building with an international quality seal to be achieved.
The municipal official has declared that this construction will reinforce the transformation and modernization of the urban center, while at the same time it will mean the unification of municipal dependencies, it will facilitate the internal management of material and personal resources and it will improve the service, comfort and attention to citizens.
This building for administrative use will consist of 13,068 square meters; 9,157 of them will be built above ground, including the ground floor plus seven floors (same height as the adjoining building) and 3,911 square meters will be below ground, including a mezzanine and a basement for parking with capacity for 131 spaces, which will have the same payment system of one euro a day for the user.
On the ground floor, the uses with the highest public attendance will be established, with the access hall, reception, general registry and technical assistance, in an open space that will allow access to the different departments and that will connect with the rest of the building.
The Plenary Hall will be located on the first floor, giving it a multifunctional character, capable of hosting different uses. The upper body will house the different delegations that make up the City Council.
Lightness, transparency and permeability are the three qualities that define the lattice of the envelope chosen for the building, which provides a controlled luminosity through different degrees of opacity of the die-cut design and achieves integration into the urban landscape.
Within the line of continuous improvement and rationalization of uses that characterizes the municipal government, the new City Hall building will be an environmental benchmark for the city. The property has an accessible and sustainable design of equipment, in which energy efficiency has been one of the properties, thus providing it with the highest levels of energy savings through renewable sources and bioclimatic solutions.
This new property is located in the heart of the city, in the Central Park area; that is, at the point of connection between the historic center and the extension of the urban center. In this way, it will be integrated into this environment, giving thanks to its design a character of modernity to this consolidated and central area of the city.
These works are part of the productive investments promoted by the City Council to contribute to the creation of direct and indirect employment in the city.
