The owner of Asador Guadalmina, in Marbella, goes viral again for one of his claims. Jose Eugenio Arias-Camisón, who has more than 4,000 followers on his social networks, denounced that he did not found people to work with. “The strong summer season is coming and I don’t have waiters or grill or kitchen helpers, but there are 3 million people receiving unemployment benefits. How do you eat this?” The message has already accumulated more than 3,500 comments and has been shared nearly 3,000 times.
I still can’t find people to work with. The strong summer season is here, and I have no waiters, no grill, no kitchen helpers, but there are three million people receiving unemployment benefits. This, how do you eat?

The truth is that José Eugenio is not the only one who is finding it difficult to find qualified workers and the Costa del Sol lacks waiters with sufficient training for the position. However, José Eugenio has had many detractors on him, claiming that “his waiters charge 900 euros and work 12 hours”. This newspaper has been able to contact former grill workers and they assure that they received at least 1,500 euros plus tips and they were insured 40 hours a week, “which not all restaurants do.” They do recognize that they came to work up to 12 hours a day, “as happens in so many other places in high season.”
José Ignacio in another tweet acknowledges that his waiters work more than 40 hours a week, “it is absolutely legal to negotiate with a worker to work more hours for a higher salary.” In another subsequent message he attached a photo of part of his team assuring that they all charge “between 1,500 and 3,000 euros”. He adds that many of them have “more than 10 years with me and are very good people.”
The businessman, controversial due to his political position and who has not hesitated to ensure that his premises are “anti-red”, hangs messages on his facade with large flags of Spain and proclamations against the Government of Spain.
