Performances in La Bajadilla

During the past year, the Junta de Andalucía carried out various actions in the marina, such as the construction of 16 shipowners’ quarters, whose tender was published in June with the aim of reorganizing and unifying the work areas of the fishing sector, improving their working conditions and favoring the integration between the port and the city. Likewise, in January 2022, the work to improve the Levante esplanade was awarded.

Gone are the pharaonic projects enlargement of the port of La Bajadilla in the past decade, where million-dollar initiatives led by the Sheikh Al-Thaniand that today they have fallen into oblivion after the Qatari lost the concession for failing to comply with the requirements of the contract.

In this regard, Merino recalled that on September 28, 2017, the Andalusian Superior Court of Justice issued ruling 1779/2017, by which “it was estimated in part the Sponsored links filed against the resolution of the APPA of May 3, 2011, which is annulled for not being in accordance with the law, leaving without effect the decision of the contracting committee for the admission of bidders dated March 31, 2011″, as well as “acts subsequent to it that are not independent”.

In this way, it has indicated that the situation resulting from the court ruling was “the existence in the public works concession contract with a single offer, the one presented by the Temporary Union of International Marine Companies of Marbella”, of which the port administration verified “the technical feasibility of the basic project” before the time elapsed of the contest. In addition, he explained that “their submission to the mandatory procedures such as the environmental viability of the basic project” was carried out to continue with the contracting procedure.

Asked if the UTE has environmental authorization processedthe general director of the APPA has pointed out that “the environmental instrument must be requested by the bidder”, without being aware to date that the procedure has begun, as well as has declined to respond when questioned about whether the agency considers issuing a new tender for the expansion of the port, since we have to wait for the situation with Marina Internacional to be resolved.
