the secretary of the PSOE of EsteponaEmma Molina, has denounced this Thursday that the Popular Party (PP) both in the City Council and in the Provincial Council, is abandoning and undermining firefighters of the municipality, to those who come “denying resources and resort to the Marbella operatives so that they cover part of the municipal term, something that he has branded as a “usurpation of functions”.

The socialist has recalled that since 2016 the fire station of Estepona joined the Provincial Firefighters Consortium of the Diputación de Málaga, has been losing personnel and material means that have seriously deteriorated the service, with the consequent danger for the population.

In addition, he pointed out that “now the Consortium has reached a agreement with the Marbella Town Hall so that the firefighters of this municipality cover part of the municipality of Estepona”. Specifically, “these are the neighborhoods and urbanizations between the Guadalmansa River, the municipalities of Marbella and Benahavís”, he pointed out.

According to Molina, this “affects the neighborhoods of Cancelada, Isdabe and Cortésas well as at urbanizations Park Beach, Saladillo, Costalita, Bel Air, El Paraíso, Atalaya, Montebiarritz, El Campanario and Lomas del Marqués”.

The agreement states that Marbella firefighters can carry out “faster” coverage and, therefore, more effective because they are closer”, explained the secretary of the PSOE, who has indicated that “if the Consortium will provide the Estepona park with the human and material resources that corresponds to him by his category, it would not be necessary to resort to colleagues from other municipalities, who understand that they will always come if circumstances require it”.

The spokeswoman denounces that it is “more than a collaboration, a usurpation of functions, since the members of Estepona feel discriminated against and belittled when observing how their political leaders prefer that colleagues from other municipalities cover their tasks, instead of equipping them to be able to face them with guarantees”.
