A total of 34 unemployed people from Mijas found work during 2021 thanks to the Red Cross employment programwhat co-finances the Mijas Town Hall through the Social Services area with a subsidy of 10,000 euros, as announced on Wednesday by the councilor responsible for the area, Hipólito Zapico.
The mayor pointed out that “the results are very good and in 2021, thanks to this program, 34 people entered the labor market and 50 people received training, data that comes to complement the magnificent work being done by the Employment Promotion area”.
Zapico has highlighted “the special relevance that this program has for people who, due to different circumstances, they just can’t find the way to find a job”, indicating that “through the Red Cross orientation and training prepares them so they can knock on the doors of those companies.
The councilor has stressed that this employment program is co-financed by European Funds and the Mijas City Councilwhich gives a grant of 10,000 euros “which serve to complement the investment made with this project”.
For her part, the Mijas Red Cross employment technician, Patricia Wilkenschildt, has detailed that the program works along two main lines: the Comprehensive Itineraries that Add project and the Business Social Challenge Alliance.
“These two projects work from the labor orientation so that people who access our program, who are unemployed and with difficulties, receive a process of job orientation and a diagnosis of needswhere “we propose a series of actions to improve their employability and their possibilities of access to employment, and if we see fit, they are offered the courses we are carrying out”.
These formations, which have internships in companies in the area, encompass different areas, adds Wilkenschildt, “from gardening and pool maintenance, restaurant waiter, maids or home help assistant”.
