“Las recoveras” is a story about dignity and what happens when it conflicts with survival itself. A story that reflects the stories of many women from Casares who were an example of resistance, courage and ingenuity, who rescued their children from misery and who have earned their place in the history of our country. A film based on the stories of post-war women who have been talked about so much at the Jornadas de las Recoveras that are held every year in Casares
The jury, made up of the screenwriter and director Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, the screenwriter and writer Alejandro Hernández, and the screenwriter Marina Parés, highlighted that it is a work that “recovers the spirit of Italian neorealism to talk about our post-war period”.
The screenwriter Lola Salvador, after whom the award is named, will present the award today at a ceremony held at the Kursaal Center Press Club in San Sebastián, which will be attended by the president of DAMA, Virginia Yagüe.
