The mayor of Benahavís, José Antonio Mena, in statements to AZ Costa del Sol, has confirmed the eviction of the Montemayor area, since although the fire is far away, the forecasts are not encouraging at all.

In total there have been 80 homes, most of them villas and in total there were no more than 10 families, although Emergencies raises the number to 50 evacuees, most of them foreigners.

Mena explained that the evacuation was very fast and it was done in half an hour. In addition, the Benahavís City Hall assembly hall has been enabled for those evacuees who need it, although no one has used it at the moment.

The forecasts are not very optimistic and this afternoon the west wind and the temperature rise, which together with a drop in humidity can cause the flames to spread much more quickly.
