The 15-13 European victory against the United States in the Solheim Cup has been the culmination of a program of events to promote that this women’s golf championship “already speaks Spanish”, as it will celebrate its next edition, that of 2023, at the club Finca Cortesín from Malaga, playing for the first time in Spain.

To the triumphs of the representatives of our country in the Solheim Cup and in the PING Junior Solheim Cup is added the work of the expedition that attended the most important women’s sporting event in the world with the intention of publicizing the 2023 edition that will end in the Malaga club from September 18 to 24, have reported from the Malaga Provincial Council in a statement.

It should be remembered that the limitations on travel caused by COVID-19 and the current geopolitical situation prevented many of the representatives of the organizations and institutions that have made it possible for the Solheim Cup to reach our country, but the staff of the organizing team that was able to move to Toledo, Ohio, where the 2021 edition was held, brought the benefits of our country.

In addition, a good number of meetings were held with the main organizations that govern the destinations of world women’s golf, the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour, to advance the transition and continue with the planning of the Finca Cortesín championship.

The Spain Plaza, the base of operations of the Spanish expedition at the Inverness Club, has become the best platform to inform Americans of the golf, sports, gastronomic, tourist and cultural tricks that Andalusia, the Costa del Sol and its main municipalities, such as Marbella and Benahavís.

Also noteworthy is the work of the tour operators present at the stand (Premier Golf, Celtic Golf and Women’s Golf Travel), who were very satisfied with the expectations raised by the 2023 Solheim Cup and by the reaction of the American public. The Solheim Cup 2023 will be, according to the president of the Malaga Provincial Council, “the culmination of a cooperative project in which many institutions have been working for years and that puts us in the center of all eyes in the world. The celebration of these events is a splendid situation to show the facilities that we have and the unbeatable offer of the Costa del Sol. With our more than 70 courses we are the destination in continental Europe with the highest concentration of golf courses ”.

The Solheim week’s program of activities was intense and included interviews with national and international media, high-level meetings, working sessions with tour operators and meetings with US political representatives, such as the reception of the Sister Cities Association chaired by Wade Kapszukiewicz , Mayor of Toledo, and State Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, among other authorities.

The program closed with the closing ceremony of the tournament, at which point the exciting two-year countdown was launched until action begins at Finca Cortesín in September 2023.
