The Malaga City Council, through the Youth Area, has held the award ceremony for the Young Comic Show ‘MálagaCrea’ 2022, which recognizes young artists who stand out in this discipline.

The awards ceremony for this edition and the opening of the exhibition with the finalist works took place this past Wednesday at the Caja Blanca.

The Young Comic Show ‘MálagaCrea’, organized by the Youth Area, encourages the appearance of new values ​​in the comic sector, with the aim of promoting young cartoonists, illustrators and scriptwriters whose works stand out for their originality, innovation, experimentation , drawing, script and the search for the union of new technologies with drawing and character design, among others.

In the event, held at La Caja Blanca, the awards were handed out. Specifically, the first prize for Pablo Pacheco for the work ‘La musa’, endowed with 1,200 euros; the second prize for ‘JOSPAULI’ (José Carlos García and Fco. De Paula Junquera) for the work ‘La Hermandad’, endowed with 900 euros; and the third prize for José Ubaldo López for the work ‘My friend Dante’, with 700 euros.

Also the special mentions for José Ricardo Sánchez, for the play ‘El Capitán Sardinilla’; Margarita López, for the play ‘Postpone’; and Laura Márquez, for the work ‘Enjoy Vegan Cuisine’.

This year’s edition of the Young Comic Show has had 19 works. Each year the jury of the MálagaCrea 2022 Young Visual Arts Exhibition is made up of people of recognized professional prestige. For this edition we have had the collaboration of: María del Carmen García Chicano, professor at the San Telmo art school; Francisco Javier Gamboa Andrade, cartoonist and comic illustrator; and Pedro Vargas Domínguez, cultural manager.

The MálagaCrea Youth Cultural Shows are an artistic promotion program for young creators, organized and managed by the Youth Area of ​​the Malaga City Council. The main objective is to facilitate the channels of artistic expression and stimulate young, emerging and quality creation in the city.

To do this, in addition to the cash prizes, a fanzine will be published with the winning works and the finalist works selected by the jury will remain on display in La Caja Blanca so that the public can visit them free of charge.
