The works of new drinking water tank in Esteponawhich is being built in the Las Mesas area, are 50% completed, an action that has a investment of more than 3.7 million eurosas announced on Tuesday by the deputy mayor of the Services and External Control area, Blas Ruzafa.
This new infrastructure, which will have a capacity for 15,000 cubic meterswill significantly expand the possibility of storing drinking water for the municipality, since will multiply by 15 the capacity of the current deposit existing in the area.
In this way, the mayor has highlighted that the city will be endowed with a greater water independence and improvements to the networks in the area between Avenida Andalucía and the area of La Cala.
Ruzafa has reported that earthworks have been completed corresponding to the excavation, as well as about to finish the works of solera in the two vessels into which the deposit is divided. According to the forecast of the technicians, the construction of the walls will begin shortly.
In addition, the municipal official has highlighted the importance of this new water infrastructure because extends the supply guarantee for Esteponacovering the needs in times of maximum demand.
The new work, which is being executed by the Consistory and Hidralia, the company that manages the integral water cycle in Estepona, began in January 2022 and is already halfway through. With a investment of more than 3.7 million eurosincluded in the infrastructure improvement fee, the new deposit will have two tanks of 7,500 cubic meters each to improve its operation and maintenance.
Jobs include the installation of the entrance and exit networks of the warehouse and it is expected that during the construction used 270 tons of steel and 5,000 cubic meters of concrete.
This project is included in the Supply Master Plan for Estepona, which aims to execute works worth 22.7 million euros in the water network until 2030, thus guaranteeing the supply throughout the municipality and improving quality in areas experiencing the highest population growth.
The councilor has indicated that the new deposit will take on even more importance when the next action planned by the City Council and Hidralia is carried out, and that it will consist of the installation of a supply pipeline which will allow the networks of the eastern part of the municipality (Selwo) to be interconnected with those of the urban area and the western part (Buenas Noches urbanization limit).
