The mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, this morning held a meeting with the president of the Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Costa del Sol (Aehcos), José Luque, in which matters of interest to the tourism sector in terms of promotion were addressed , infrastructures and training, among others, on the occasion of the end of the summer campaign.
The meeting, which was also attended by the general director of Tourism, Laura de Arce; the executive vice president of the group, Javier Hernández, and his delegate in Marbella, Fernando Al-Ferkh, has been framed within the agenda of periodic contacts that the City Council maintains with the hotel management.
Luque has detailed that issues such as the high traffic density of the A-7, “which worries us a lot”; or the shortage of human resources in the sector, “Subject in which the mayor has informed us that the POEFE vocational training project is underway, which is very interesting.”
Likewise, the councilor has informed Aehcos of the future Strategic Tourism Plan being designed with the University of Malaga or the new stretches of the coastal path. “We find it very positive that the entire coast is connected,” said Al-Farkh.
For his part, De Arce has indicated that during the meeting the development of the summer has also been analyzed, as well as the marketing and promotion initiatives that are going to be promoted in the coming months. At this point, he explained that today the table for the preparation of the Strategic Tourism Plan has also been convened, “which is quite advanced”. “Fortunately we are recovering a certain normality and we will continue working and meeting more regularly to develop initiatives for the benefit of the sector,” he added.
