Torremolinos continues in full economic growth once the data provided by the Employment Department are known, in which the municipality has registered an evident decrease in the unemployment rate. In the month of August 2021, unemployment has fallen by 34.3 percent, compared to January of this year, being 3,176 residents who have entered the labor market with a new job.
The mayor of Torremolinos, José Ortiz, has been “more than satisfied that the good news is beginning to arrive, consolidating our economic growth and transforming it into new employment contracts for our citizens. A few days ago we knew that we are leaders in tourist visits and overnight stays, but now we can be even happier knowing that these good data have enabled 1,887 new contracts to be signed, which is 55 percent more than the same month of the year. last year”.
The age group that has benefited the most from this rise in employment has been between the ages of 25 and 44, with a figure of more than 980 new contracts. Young people under 25 years of age have led to a decrease in unemployment by 407 people, as well as up to 497 neighbors who are in the section of over 45 years.
“We have been fighting for many months against the pandemic in terms of health security, as well as in economic terms to be able to be on the side of those who needed it most. Now, with these data, we are going to focus our work on consolidating the new jobs that have been created in recent months, fighting against the seasonality of tourism and favoring policies aimed at expanding the offer, highlighting our gastronomy and being attractions for visitors who also arrive outside the high season months ”, concluded the mayor of Torremolinos, José Ortiz.
