The Estepona Town Hall has reported that the improvement works that are being undertaken in the water supply network in the Litoral avenue They are at 50% completion. The deputy mayor of the Services and External Control area, Blas Ruzafa, declared that these works have already reached their halfway point, with the works on the first section being completed, where the connections with the La Cala river have been carried out.
Likewise, according to the municipal official, next week the works will also be completed on the second section that runs from the entrance of the Zapallito parking lot to the San José school, with the aim of facilitating access to schoolchildren with the beginning of the academic year. Subsequently, work will be undertaken on a third section in the zone of influence of the roundabout that connects the avenues of Spain and Andalusia, according to the City Council in a statement.
The councilor declared that this action, which is being carried out by the water service concession company, Hidralia, represents an investment – within the improvement fee – of more than 679,000 euros to make the supply network in this area of the city, which includes the Avenida de Andalucía up to the La Cala stream.
In addition, the execution of new firefighting facilities will give the municipality greater efficiency in the supply of water against possible fires. These works, which will benefit the more than 18,000 people who reside in this area of the urban area, will also prevent flooding in the La Cala area when heavy rainfall is recorded.
Regarding the works, the municipal official indicated that they consist of several parts: the renewal of the supply network by replacing the current pipe sections, unifying the section and replacing them with others made of ductile iron; the displacement of the route of the network so as to improve the distance with the rest of the services present in the road and the replacement and improvement of the sewerage network in the section affected by the works of execution of the new supply facility; as well as the replacement of the pavement.
